Memory Lane

IOT System Design

2025

I worked on Memory Lane, an app designed to support Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers with smart, intuitive features. The app integrates IoT devices like motion sensor lights for safety and provides real-time alerts via Apple Watch and mobile if a patient wanders beyond familiar areas.

The goal was to create an experience that’s both functional and comforting.

Project Duration:  2 Months

Patients get gentle medication reminders and engaging cognitive games like Sudoku, while caregivers benefit from intelligent tracking and thoughtful alerts. Every feature was designed to make caregiving more manageable and less stressful.

Understanding the problem

Alzheimer’s deeply affects not just memory, but the emotional and practical independence of a person. Caregivers often struggle with tracking, daily assistance, and mental stimulation of their loved ones, especially in non-clinical home settings. Current tools are either too technical, too impersonal, or fail to adapt to the real-life needs of both parties.

Memory Lane is a soft-tech solution that blends safety, routine, and emotional care. It gives caregivers peace of mind, while helping patients stay gently connected to their memories and to the people who love them.
