Gajjo

System Design

2025

Industry Project with WWF

Gajjo was a six-month-long project done in collaboration with WWF, focused on tackling human-elephant conflict in North Bengal. Through field research, long conversations with locals, and closely observing forest officers, the project shaped itself into a bilingual, inclusive app that helps communities report elephant sightings, send quick alerts and stay safe.

Project Duration:  6 Months

The system does three things. It lets villagers send quick alerts, helps forest officers respond faster, and keeps a shared log to build trust. After seeing families sleep with torches on, it no longer felt like just a project. It felt like something I owed them.

The Process

I spent 2 months in the jungles of North Bengal, speaking to more than 100 people to understand their problems and lifestyle.

Systematic Reporting

Frame 137.png

The users get to instantly report elephant sightings or any damage caused by the elephant. This helps build a systematic database to identify major conflict hotspots and repeat invaders.

The SOS button allows the user to communicate their position with a single click in case of an emergency when the situation becomes hostile.
